Empowering Parents & Healing Relationships

Parenting help when your child is struggling

At Altacare, we understand the challenges that so often accompany parenting a child who suffers from mental, emotional, or behavioral concerns. Our experienced providers know what it’s like to have profound love for your child but to be at your wit’s end when it comes to their behavior. We know that while your child’s treatment needs are paramount, you as a parent also need support in order to play an active role in your child’s recovery.

We also know that this experience can leave you feeling very alone. From the moment you start to observe symptoms in your child, you may feel isolated, frustrated, and worried about your child’s future. If you have other children in the home, you may also be fearful of how your child’s symptoms might be impacting their well-being. But throughout this difficult time, know that there is hope for recovery. With support from Altacare, you can get the therapeutic care you need to heal your relationship with your child.

Support for Parents

Help for the home environment

Altacare provides therapeutic services throughout the school day for children who are struggling with certain mental health concerns. Operating in schools across Montana, our teams of licensed mental health professionals and behavioral specialists offer support in the learning environment and with peers. This model allows students to have access to individual, group, experiential, and other therapies without unnecessary interruption to their academic schedule.

At the same time, we know that children and teens need support navigating family dynamics in their home environment after the school day comes to an end. As such, we are pleased to offer family therapy and consultation services that are designed to help parents better understand their child’s needs. Our goal is to help parents learn more about the condition or conditions that their child is struggling with so that their symptoms can be viewed in context and communication patterns can be improved.

The Importance of the Parent/Child Relationship

Improve your relationship with your child

If the relationship between you and your child has become strained, you are no doubt desperately seeking answers. You may even blame yourself for your child’s emotional or behavioral challenges, and you may be experiencing feelings of shame as a parent. No matter the reasons for your child’s presenting concerns, by merely reviewing this information and seeking help, you are demonstrating your deep love and care for your child.

Sometimes, trauma can play a role in the onset of symptoms of psychiatric issues in the family. If your own trauma history is impacting your ability to parent effectively, the compassionate staff at Altacare can assist you in seeking the support you need to heal and be fully present for your family. If your child’s symptoms are rooted in trauma, our staff can supply the family and parenting support you need to heal as a unit and operate with greater functionality in the present.
